At the beginning of the year, I wrote a post called “20 Topics I Wish You’d Write About“. Many of you took me up on the challenge. Below, I’ve got another list of topics.
Topics I Wish Artists Would Write About
If you are an artist (painter. sculptor, graphic designer, filmmaker, set designer, actor, storyteller, author, musical worship leader, visual worship leader, web designer, blogger, musician, singer, photographer, song writer, poet, sketch artist, dancer, or anything else that I’ve forgotten), I really wish you’d look at the following topic list, pick one or two, and go for it.
Here’s the list…
- The relationship between art and pain.
- The relationship between art and fear.
- The relationship between art and pride.
- The relationship between art and procrastination.
- The relationship between art and lust.
Here’s the really cool part. My first-ever book is set to publish in May of this year (please hold that time line very loosely). I’m tackling all of the above topics in the book. If any of the stuff you write fits, I’ll pull from the posts you create, and quote you in the book.
So go ahead. If you’re someone who’s creating art that makes visible the invisible, explore one (or more) of the above relationships. Describe the art you create, and how the topic drives you further into your art, or forms a block to its creation.
When you go public with your post, make sure and include @garymo somewhere in your Tweet. I’ll check it out, RT it for you, and contact you if there’s a quote I’d like to use. And if you wouldn’t mind giving this post an RT, I think something beautiful might happen. And we’d take over the world.
But more important than getting quoted in some guy’s book, I pray that you tackle any of these topics from your deep, artist’s heart. I pray that you just lay it out there, and don’t worry about what other people will think. Because the rest of us need to learn.
From you.
