I Love Drinking Sand
on Sep 16 in Art and Media, Everyday Life, FaithWe are thirsty people.
We are thirsty people all of the time.
When we try to convince ourselves that we’re not thirsty, we’re simply denying the truth.¬† The question is not, “Are we thirsty?”.¬† The question is, “With what are we trying to quench our thirst?”
The answer is probably different for each of us.
Meet Sandy.¬† He’s everyman, and everywoman.
A Drinking Problem from Floodgate Productions on Vimeo.
As you watched , you were probably conflicted.  I am certainly conflicted.  I laughed when I first viewed it.  But in the middle of my laughter, there was this very real sense of tragedy.  I find it tragic when I choose something that was designed to point me TOWARD God, and replace it FOR God.
I drink sand countless times a day.
Personally, the sand represents my attempt at control.¬† When I choose anger, I’m trying to control the other person.¬† When I choose lust, I’m trying control the woman.¬† When I choose material purchases, I’m trying to control my happiness.
And God whispers gently to my soul:¬† “Those things will never satisfy the deepest longings that only I can fill.”¬† And at age 45, I certainly know that to be true.
So what about you?¬† What’s your sand?¬† Wanna post about it?
